The Boy’s Volleyball team’s undefeated season has sadly come to an end after their Semifinal loss to Information Technology High School, two sets to zero.
This loss comes after a nearly two year undefeated stretch, which included a PSAL division A championship last season.
The game was tight early, Tele dropped the first set 25-23, and held a 17-13 in the second set. However, Infotech came out of a timeout hot, ultimately winning 25-20 .
Seniors Matteo Gutierrez and Igli Sharka started the game, and when we spoke to them after the game, they expressed mixed emotions.
Gutierrez said he felt happy being able to play alongside his teammates and seeing everyone grow into better players. For him, the season was a success because even those who had never been on the court got the chance to play and discover what they truly enjoyed, which he believes is what helped the team go so far. While he appreciated the overall experience, he hopes to see improvements in the team’s offense next year.

Igli stated that he enjoyed the season and was happy to play alongside his teammates, watching everyone grow and improve. It was especially meaningful to see players who had never been on the court before get their chance, and he believes that everyone discovering their strengths is what helped the team go so far—he’s hopeful the offense will continue to improve next year.

Although the team’s undefeated season came to an end, there is much to look forward to for next year. “After being on a team for 4 years, it feels bittersweet to know that it is coming to an end. However I know our team is going to get a lot better this offseason” says returning player Andre Pagan.
Coach Morton has already picked back up on his infamous two a day practices, and the players are fans. Sophomore Milo Berns explained how the consistency leads to improvement. “More practice is better than less practice. It helps with your discipline, even after a loss going right back to practice helps.”
The team will look different next year, but it is fair to say we can trust Coach Morton to push the right buttons.
