The Theater Workshop just announced its first workshop meeting with a glimpse of this year’s annual Spring Musical. Last year’s musical: High School Musical, was a smashing success, with many hoping this year’s musical lives up to its predecessor’s expectations.
We went to HSTAT’s auditorium after school to interview with the Theatre Workshop with the teacher coordinators as well as some of its club members for more info!
It was revealed along with a jubilation of cheers and exclamations that the HSTAT 2024 Spring Musical would be a school adaptation of Legally Blonde the Musical, a musical adaptation of the 3 time MTV and Teen Choice Award movie.
Everyone is welcome to work on and off stage and choose to help with sets and props with the workshop’s stage and costume crew. Would you rather help to work with all the technical stuff behind the stage? Then the tech crew sounds right up your alley!
For those who want to be on the big screen, auditions are starting in November for leading and supporting roles. After that, many rehearsals, character planning, and vocal and lyrical memorization will be done starting in December and March, when the musical will premiere in April!
But how will HSTAT’s adaptation of “Legally Blonde” compare to 2023’s “High School Musical”? We asked some students who worked on the show last year about their expectations.
“I think every year it gets better and better just because you get to meet more people and more people get to have different roles and more roles this year at least from what I know.” – Ashley B.
“Like Ashley said, I think it will be great with more people working together more and being able to collaborate.” – Deniz G.
And what about the audience? Expect a feel-good musical with a story that’ll make you laugh and a score that’ll make you wanna dance!
“It’s the message of staying true to yourself no matter what,” said Ms. Mussachio, one of the Theater Workshop’s coordinators when asked about why this musical was specifically chosen to be the next musical on HSTAT’s stage.
The Theater Workshop can’t wait to start rehearsals and bring this musical to the HSTAT community, and neither can we here at HSTAT!
