QuestBridge, a highly known and competitive scholarship, was founded in 2009 and offers upwards of $200,000 to incoming college freshman every year. This scholarship is offered to students who come from a range of backgrounds who show a strong academic prowess.
This year, out of 7,288 Finalists, two of our fellow classmates got selected for the scholarship. These students are Omer Saleh, who is our valedictorian who is headed to Stanford on a full ride and Valerie Granados who is headed to Vassar College.
We have now had five winners over the last two years which is especially remarkable considering that before last year, we went thirteen years without having any. According to current Assistant Principal and former College Advisor Mrs. Vierling.
“When I received this offer I was chocked and not only shocked but emotional too, I started crying and I couldn’t stop for an hour” says Valerie Granados.
Valedictorian Omer Saleh shared some words of inspiration for students possibly applying in the future. “Sometimes you might think putting in all this effort might not take you anywhere. Use me as an example, I’m the same as you or anyone else in this school, if I did it so can you and every student in this school.”
Congratulations to our two winners!
