With an overall GPA of 101.49, Yala Huang achieved a full ride to Cornell University.
When asked how she achieved this, Yala thanks the college office as well as her mom for helping her get this far.
In her 4 years at HSTAT, Yala filled her schedule up with many activities. Joining the Volleyball team, tech crew for theater, Badminton Club, Asian American Club, is a member of the 6 year Thrive Scholar program, finance internship at Lazard, senior mentor, participant in GirlHack Hackathon, and the TDF program
“All the hard work was definitely worth it in the end, but I would definitely change some things in my high school journey,” Yala reflects.
“For example, I spent most of my waking hours studying and involving myself in various extracurricular, I do now wish I managed my time better and spent more time with family and friends, so I could have enjoyed these 4 years more.”
“You have no idea what is waiting for you on the other side, so keep working towards your goal and a whole door of opportunities will open up for you when you least expect it, making all your hard work worth it.”
Congratulations to Yala, and to all, remember that you only quit when you stop trying. As long as you’re putting in the effort, you haven’t given up yet.
