Saturday marked the start of the PSAL A division playoffs for boys soccer.
In a highly anticipated round of 32 matchup against Bushwick High School, Tele pulled off an intense last minute win.
The match started off with Anid Ibroci and Nicholas Pulla scoring the first two goals making the score 2-0. This lead stuck through the first half, but Bushwick answered in the second half with 2 goals, tying the game up in the final minutes of regulation.
However, in overtime, Tele reigned supreme as Daniel Bautista scored a clutch penalty to secure the win and a sweet 16 matchup against 6-2 Grover Cleveland.
Tele’s season was ended by Grover Cleveland on Halloween in last year’s playoffs, so it is only fitting that they their highly anticipated rematch on Halloween this year.
Coach Rubin and the boys knew this game was looming, so now it’s up to them to achieve redemption.
